Dana 44 axles

Postby Adam's square eyes on Thu May 20, 2010 11:16 am

If anyone can help me solve this question. Trying to rebuild my rear 44 and I dont know how to get the collar off the axle shaft that holds the wheel bearing in place and to put it back on? Or is there a kit for rebuilding the shafts?
Thanks Adam

I'm not 100% sure, but I think those have to be pressed on and off.

Brian is correct. You need a press for the collars. That's the only down side to the 44 axle, bearings aren't easily field repairable.

Well does anyone have a press to get them on and off or knows somewhere that does this job cheaply?
Thanks Adam

If I can get to mine, I can do them. Easy job - usually.

Give me a call.

If you still need help, I can press them on/off for you as well.
